CBS July Blues Jam hosted by The Minglewood Blues Band

The Minglewood Blues Band hosts Canberra Blues Society July Blues Jam on Sunday 18 July.

Four like-minded fanatical seasoned Blues musicians decided to form a blues band that had a common purpose. To play the blues for the fun and love of it. The Band has already played quite a few shows & blues festivals so far which were very well received, and are very excited about their future.

Rick Bamford (Uncle Rick) – Slide guitar, Dobro, Lap steel, Guitar & Vocals
Rick is a Bluesman who has been there and done that over the years. His love of performing has been with him his whole career. His passion for the Blues has never wavered as he continues to woo the crowds with his rasping vocals, lead & slide guitar and his passion for entertaining.
Rick loves the way Minglewood have interpreted and enhanced his original tunes too.

Dean Edgecombe (Deano) – Bass guitar/Vocals
Deano has been wooing audiences all over Australia for longer than he cares to think about. His driving bass lines & his undying passion for the blues has seen him punch out the back line for many renowned bands. The way Deano lays down a solid bass line & handles all the different feels is second to none. He adds to the bands repertoire with the ability to write & sing great blues tunes.

James Hoogstad (Hoogie) – Sax & Harmonica
Hoogie started playing blues harp in high school. He cut his musical teeth in Adelaide blues outfit “Too Many Cats” where he also learned how to drink too much, smoke cigarettes and play tenor sax all at the same time. Rock ‘n’ roll bands followed. The mid ‘noughties’ saw a return to more soulful music and now he completes the full circle back to blues music, which is a mighty fine place to be.Hoogie also composes tunes for the band.

Gavin “Larry Spoons” Kelly – Drums
Larry’s love of the Blues, his sensational vocal harmonies & his on stage antics all are testament to the ability of this natural born entertainer/drummer. The band just wouldn’t be the same without his cheeky attitude & brilliant talent.

The host band will be followed by some of the finest musicians in the Canberra region, jamming together for a great afternoon of live Blues music.
