The word on EDM/Dance Music with Aegipan Samarawickrama
Howdy-ho, and welcome to 2025!
Bass Minister Pan here, Sorcerer of Utmost Filth, kicking off with the first column of the New Year.
This one’s a bit shorter than what you’re used to as there’s next to nothing on my radar for both gigs and releases just yet. But following the jam-packed second half of 2024, that’s surely going to change very soon.
First and foremost – it appears that a few gigs have passed under my aforementioned scanner. I clearly need to tune the bastard up. DJs, producers, crews, and promoters can (and absolutely should) send any and all details through to me at aegipan101@gmail.com or on my socials (with a name like this one, it’s no difficult task finding me).
You’ll be making my job a hell of a lot easier, not to mention that you’ll be doing a huge favour to yourselves and the scene in the process.
Two huge pieces of news to get to first…
There’s a new crew in town, and it’s an arts, music, and entertainment collective known as Bush Kulture.

Founded by the Solid Professor himself, it’s an all-hands passion project set to bring some serious bush rave energy to 2025. They’ll be doing the gods’ work in promoting and supporting underground electronic music artists and the local scene in general, so I reckon I speak for all of us when I say that expectations are high.
Their first event is already one for the record books. Deadset underground legend, Loose Cannon, is celebrating the 20th year of his unreal career by playing a whopping 33-hour (!) DJ set just outside Canberra from 7am on Saturday, 22 February to 6pm on the Sunday, 23 February.

If this beautifully mad bastard manages to pull this off, It’ll be the 20th longest DJ set in human history, the third longest in Australian history, and the world’s longest bush doof set (information sourced by Solid Professor).
So, if you want to bear witness to a literal history-making set, do not miss this one.
Supporting Loose Cannon are a bunch of renowned local and interstate crews. If I listed them all here it would be a ridiculously long paragraph with a lot of bold text, but Soliq Records, RPG Events, and Off Tap Productions are just three of the nine crews making this event happen.
Now, when I said “all-hands” back there, I meant it.
The location is TBA and tickets will be available soon (if they’re not already available by the time you’re reading this) so keep an eye and/or ear out. [EDIT- YES I found where to get your hands on a ticket . 1st release has sold out, 2nd release is not far off. Jump over to Triniq.com]

A few days before the end of 2024, Soliq Records dropped the second volume of their Uncharted Sounds V/A, boasting 20 original tracks by 20 producers from 10 different countries over a whopping 140 minutes!
I’m really digging the Uncharted Sounds concept – an artist can only ever release one original track for the series, meaning that each compilation will be a diverse and fascinating experience.

There’s an absolute wealth of talent on display here, so there’s more than something for everyone. I hear that the third volume is already in the works, so expect another shout out in the column when that one’s released.
I’m still waiting to see the first major album and EP releases of 2025, so stay tuned for that news. Again, if you’re a producer or you’ve found a filthy release you want me to mention, hit me up. It’s a big bloody world of music out there, and I can lose sight of the forest for the trees.
That’s all I’ve got time for this month, but I’ll be here throughout the year with more goodness and news on what’s happening around town.
Again, please do hit me up with any and all information pertinent to the column, whether through email or social media or by a good old fashioned getting-in-my-ear when you see me out and about!
Stay safe, stay cool, and be good to each other.
