The Good Doctor

Neil Simon’s The Good Doctor is an adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s short stories for the stage. We are invited into the home of an unnamed writer suffering from a case of writer’s block. In trying to rid himself of his affliction, he tells a series of stories examining the humour and the heart of humanity. A cast of memorable characters from an acting troupe plays out the stories as each scene is introduced, drawing us into their worlds for a short time before the writer whisks us on to the next one. The Good Doctor places a lens on humans’ absurd, outlandish, ludicrous, poignant, and merely odd frailties and enables us to laugh at ourselves.
