Sounds from the Suburbs 5 w/ Nothing Rhymes with David, Slagatha Christie, and Swoon Queen

Homegrown Sounds is proud to present Sounds from the Suburbs – our series of all ages live music gigs, showcasing the best in local music in the heart of Canberra’s inner-north suburbs.

Returning Sunday 20th June, Gang Gang Cafe will see Nothing Rhymes with David join us from NSW, with friends Slagatha Christie and Swoon Queen set to each perform exciting new sets in a warm and intimate setting for eager local music lovers.

Nothing Rhymes with David are a Wollongong trio lead by frontperson David James Young, who late last year dropped a surprise new album layered with rock, folk, and spoken word elements. The band will travel down and debut their third record ‘sky lonely’ for us for the first time in the nation’s capital.

Icons of the Canberra music scene Slagatha Christie will join us for an acoustic set that we all love to see. The band are known for their fun and exciting take on punk, as well as constantly experimenting and striving to perform in new ways. Slagatha Christie will keep you on your toes and hold you to wonder what they’ll do next time.

Swoon Queen is a long time friend and equally long-time maker of sweet indie-folk music, who’s always been on our minds since she joined us for a livestream show back in lockdown. A year later, we can’t wait to have Swoon Queen join us again but this time at the beautiful Gang Gang Cafe.

Tickets are $12.25 from Oztix.
