Saeko Ogi – Rock At The Roadside

Saeko Ogi’s work is a lyrical blend of verse and her original paintings. Dr Carol Hayes, Japanese Studies, Australian National University, says ‘Rock at the Roadside tells of a life lived deeply across two continents, the Japan of her childhood and the Australia she now calls home.’ Beverley George, Founding Editor of ‘Eucalypt, a tanka journal’, says of the poems that ‘they provide yet another example of how the Japanese genre of tanka, when compellingly written and expertly translated, can cross boundaries of time, place and diverse cultures to be shared around the world.’
