Henry Shawcross is an emerging Canberra-based artist. He has a life-long interest in textiles and returned to visual art as self-expression when he experienced chronic illness. He enjoys exploring the therapeutic and meditative benefits of processes requiring repetition and attention to detail in stitching, drawing and printmaking. He is about to enter his second year of study in the Bachelor of Visual Arts at ANU School of Art & Design.

Scene: Interior/Exterior is a series of relief and screen prints that use the suburban landscape as starting points for reflection on memory, emotion, and meaning. He is interested in how the printing process abstracts and distorts images to reveal new interpretations of the familiar and mundane.

This exhibition is part of the IGNITE program for artists who identify as disabled, D/deaf, HOH, chronically ill, neurodiverse or who have lived experience of mental health issues.
