Hoodlum Shouts & Cat Heaven

Ten years together and three albums with local Melbourne label, poison city records, Hoodlum Shouts are performing a rare string of shows along the Hume, playing the final night at their beloved second home, The Phoenix, where they became part of the already eclectic furniture in their early years. Since the release of Heat Island, they have toured sporadically, collecting a tribe of admirers along the way. Hoodlums have a knack for commanding a room. Whether it through their stark vocals delivered with staggering intensity or the jagged, unnerving instrumentation that accompanies them remains unclear but they are truly a band’s band. An act that musicians gravitate towards and punters revere.

Sydney’s Cat Heaven, comprising members of Mere Women, No Art, Hira Hira and Nice Guys and having just released their angular and intoxicating debut ‘Living Room’ produced by Jay Whalley of Frenzal Rhomb (yes that’s right), are back on the road after touring the album earlier in the year. Living Room captures the magical gloom of domestic experience through their energetic post punk, flipping between calm and despair like a faulty light switch.

They will be supported by well known and loved Canberra locals Shoeb Ahmad and Like Foxes.

Tickets at the door.
