Connections

Connections is a regional showcase of members of the SAQA Oceania, curated by Giselle Burningham, exploring the theme, connections.

SAQA is an international non-profit organization that dedicates itself to the promotion of art quilts and the artists who create them. It was established in the USA in 1989 by an initial group of 50 artists. SAQA now has over 3,400 members, including over 140 members in the Oceania Region which includes artists such as Dianne Firth, Jenny Bowker and Helen Campion.

Connections is a showcase of the best quilts and quilters from our region who are working at the cutting edge of art quilting and provides the opportunity for emerging quilters to exhibit alongside those who are more established.  The included artists have used a variety of traditional and modern quilting techniques to create stitched textile artworks that respond to each artist’s unique surroundings and experiences through material, texture and colour.

The exhibition will be opened by SAQA President, Lisa Walton and exhibition juror Meredith Hinchliffe at 6pm on Friday 3 May and continues until Saturday 1 June 2019.

Free, all welcome.
