CIMF – Schubert Sublime I (11am show)

Schubert’s String Quintet has been described as ‘terrifyingly beautiful’ or ‘transcendent’ yet nothing even remotely begins to describe the universal embrace of life and death that this work represents. As his health was deteriorating, the 31 year old composer melds characteristically Viennese ‘gemütlichkeit’ with far darker forebodings. Australia’s youngest quartet sensation recreates Schubert’s final statement together with Blair Harris.
