The Apprentease is premiering in Canberra!
State producer Jazida – winner of Adelaide Fringe Festival award for Best Dance, and founder of Flazeda Hub – is bringing an Australian burlesque community staple to Canberra, with the core goal of shining a spotlight on the incredible emerging and established talents Canberra has to offer.
The Apprentease is a burlesque contest run in all states of Australia, aiming to showcase both “new talent and semi-established solo artists” in an open level contest for their chance to win the Burlesque Excellence Award, Mentorship, and Sponsored Prizes.
The Apprentease debuts in the beautiful, heritage-listed Ainslie Arts Centre on June 19 at 8pm in the Main Hall. Audiences will be delighted by a variety of different performance styles and artists from all kinds of backgrounds.
With a slate of contestants who are just as passionate about the rich burlesque culture of Canberra, The Apprentease is all about celebrating individual creativity and diversity and strengthening the community through education and industry support.
The Apprentease ACT is part of the Australia wide competition founded by A’dora Derriere and Sugar Duchess.
