“My name is Alec Randles and I’m a local fingerstyle guitarist and original singer-songwriter, currently touring down the east coast of Australia to celebrate the launch of my new single, Peace of Mind (produced by Kojo Ansah of Lake City Recording) on 12 September 2025.

“I most recently performed in Newcastle, with upcoming stops in Sydney, the Kiama Folk by the Sea Festival, and finishing with a full-band show here in Canberra at the beloved Smith’s Alternative on Sunday, 21 September.
“The hometown performance at Smith’s will feature support sets from local gems Tim McNally and Inez Hargaden, and I’ll also be bringing some familiar faces on stage to transform my solo folk work into a full band format for the first time.
“As to my solo work, I infuse my background in complex genres of fingerstyle guitar —drawing influence from Celtic, classical and contemporary—with surprisingly deep, and sometimes confronting, lyrics traversing themes of self-reliance, personal growth and social and political injustice.”
Alec’s sharp take on folk music has distinguished him in this well-traversed field. His original work has seen him perform in theatres in Australia and New Zealand, as well as on street corners in Kansas City, while also supporting renowned names in Australian folk music, such as Jeff Lang, Daniel Champagne, and Kim Churchill.
Don’t miss your chance to cheer on our world-travelled, hometown hero and get a bloody good night out into the bargain!
