Joined by geomorphologist and former TV weatherman Rob Gell, The Griffyn Ensemble will perform Cloudy With A Chance of Rain as part of this year’s National Science Week. Described as ‘music spanning genre and geography in an entertaining scientific journey through the four seasons’, the program features re-imaginings of everything from Crowded House and Burt Bacharach to contemporary music from Uruguay, Latvia and Japan, as well as classic Debussy and Schubert.
Staged as a weather forecast, the concert will explore changes in the weather and environment across the four seasons with geographical context and commentary provided by Gell. 2.30pm start.

On the eve of World War I, Zurich and Vienna are the setting for a dark tale of sexual and intellectual discovery in. Drawn from true-life events, A Dangerous Method explores the turbulent relationships between fledgling psychiatrist Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender), his mentor Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen) and Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley), the beautiful but disturbed young woman who comes between them. Sensuality, ambition and deceit set the scene for the pivotal moment when Jung, Freud and Sabina come together and split apart, forever changing the face of modern thought.
Fassbender is stoically European, reserved and mild-mannered one minute and stripping down to his unders in a sado-masochistic thrashing the next. Keira Knightley throws her jaw around like a kid chasing other kids in the park with a used condom on the end of a stick. Magic!
A Dangerous Method was directed by David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises, A History of Violence) from a screenplay by Academy Award winning writer Christopher Hampton (Atonement, Dangerous Liaisons), who adapted his own stage play, The Talking Cure, for the screen.

The ultimate girl power rock combination will be visiting Zierholz soon to promote The Line, a campaign aimed at promoting a discussion of respect in relationships. Owl Eyes and Stonefield, two of Australia’s youngest all-girl rock acts, are bringing their combined forces to bear on one of the best-sounding and chicest venues currently operating north side and possibly in the ACT at large.
I’m glad this is happening because my woman doesn’t respect my right to fill her mouth with cotton buds while she’s sleeping. And while we’re making love. And all the time, really. I just love that cute face she makes, like, ‘Arsehole, I can’t breathe…’ I’m sick of this stigma around disrespect in relationships – that it’s always the men responsible. So we want to come on things that don’t belong to us and put cotton buds in people! Whatever.
I’m going to talk to Owl Eyes and Stonefield and see if they have any suggestions as to how a modicum of decency can be forced on my partner. Aussie-Swedish duo Nick and Liesl and back in Australia. 2011 saw them tour Australia and Europe with their critically acclaimed debut album Feather and only days after returning from overseas they wowed crowds at the 2011/2012 Woodford Folk Festival.
The European tour, which took them through Germany, Belgium, France and Switzerland, included live performances on French TV and German radio as well as at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. After the tour Nick and Liesl returned to Sweden for some family time and, inspired by the haunting winter darkness there, worked on new material for the next album.
They are now back in the country for a year of festivals, recording and, quite unexpectedly, writing for the stage. The play, which fuses art, drama and music, will feature songs from Nick and Liesl’s previous releases as well as new material purposely written for the performance.

For Kody Neilson, the mastermind behind Opossom, music is in each step, each breath and every waking moment. Tackling topics of love, drugs with a little DIY, Opossom will take fellow blind-daters on a pulsing rollercoaster.
Rounding off this triple bill is Los Angeles’ White Arrows. New single Roll Forever saw the band take on the UK with their storming live set. With a show compared by the Daily Post as being led into “a cul-de-sac of orgasmic, sweet indie-synth-psychedelic pop” that “blow(s) our tiny little mind”.

Mac, a 15-year senior and consummate ladies’ man, is smitten by the school’s new substitute chemistry teacher. He soon realizes that the only way he’ll truly have a chance with her is if he finally graduates high school. In three weeks’ time, Mac will need to cram four years of high school academics, while Devin crams four years of teenage experience.

No two shows are ever the same! Fast-talking, foul mouthed Jason Mewes and his "hetero life partner" Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) hit the DVD format with their highly praised live comedy show, Jay & Silent Bob Get Old.
Following the release of the cult-classic film Clerks in 1994, the two quickly became much loved stoner icons, with their mischievous characters going on to star in Mallrats, ChasingAmy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks 2, all of which were written and directed by Smith – so it’s sort of no wonder that they were in them.
Smith and Mewes have since developed an extraordinarily likeable live show. They just sit down and chat for an hour; tell stories, tell jokes, have arguments, talk family, fame, anything that comes to mind. It sounds dull on paper but it’s really just a return to the entertainment of old – conversation. Can’t recommend this highly enough.
