To promote the upcoming live concert, The Very Best of Dusty Springfield featuring Deni Hines and Monique Montez at The Playhouse on Friday June 29, BMA Magazine have been given three copies of the newly released compilation of the same name to give away.
The compilation features 24 of Dusty Springfield’s best songs, including All I See Is You, Son of a Preacher Man, I Only Want To Be With You, You Don't Have To Say You Love Me, I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself, Wishin & Hopin, Stay Awhile and many more.
On a personal note, if you aren’t a Dusty Springfield fan, you should be. The woman is one of the most consistently brilliant songstresses of all time. Her work has been covered, remade, featured in films and generally rinsed by everyone with more (and less) talent than her for over four decades.

After a Sydney 2010 sell out tour, Monique Montez now joins Deni Hines in a National Tour – a concert to celebrate Dusty Springfield’s musical achievements, highlighting her hit songs and the impact they had around the world during the era of Black & White Soul.
Monique Montez wowed audiences with her brilliant portrayal of no less than
five major roles in Dusty the Original Pop Diva, so Monique jumped at the chance to reunite with Deni on stage once again. Dusty: the Original Pop Diva, The Musical was nominated for 6 Helpmann Awards including Deni Hines for Best Supporting Actress.
The new show is a two-hour spectacular by two of Australia’s leading theatre and pop vocalists, performing together and solo, backed by an amazing band in authentic ‘60s costumes. Dusty The Concert will leave audiences wishin’ and hopin’ that the show would never end.

Rockhampton’s favourite sons Busby Marou have just returned from their first tour of the US and Canada with big smiles on their dials. April brings the announcement of their I Still Don’t Believe tour which coincides with the release of the deluxe edition of their debut album and their first performance at Bluesfest.
I Still Don’t Believe is the brand new single recorded with Anthony Lycenko (Elvis Costello, Xavier Rudd) in Byron Bay on their most recent tour and is available now for fans to devour.
This tour looks set to be the last chance for fans to catch up with their mates from Busby Marou before they head back to the US and Canada for the back end of 2012.

Acclaimed UK comedian, actor, writer, TV presenter, radio host and all-round Renaissance man Lenny Henry returns to his roots with a funky, funny and personal one man show, Cradle to Rave, about the thing he loves most: music.

Futility will launch their second full-length album, The View From Here, at The Basement on Saturday June 9 with support from Myraeth (Sydney), Katabasis (Sydney) and Tranquil Deception.
The album is being released by Tactical Solutions Records, a Canberra label belonging to Dan Nahum. He established the label ‘to deliver intelligent and obscure underground music to discerning listeners’ (or so its motto goes). It's a labour of love for Dan and Futility leapt at the chance to have him on board. Futility guitarist Kurt Neist has a ‘project studio’ (spare bedroom) where he does recording for bands (Boonhorse, Law of the Tongue, Bleakwood, Greed & Rapacity etc. – a lot of Canberra metal bands) and the album was recorded there over a 12 month period.
It’s a fiercely local project for a fiercely local band. As they write: “We find the metal scene in Canberra to be small but dedicated and passionate. While it's great to play to a full house, the best local shows have a small bunch of guys going absolutely nuts and getting involved in the music. This is infinitely preferable to playing to a larger crowd standing around with their arms crossed and steadfastly refusing to have a good time because the music doesn't meet some imaginary 'hipness' criteria.”
